The Ondo State Government has issued a strong warning to land grabbers, declaring zero tolerance for all forms of illegal land activities across the state in 2026.
Speaking after the maiden meeting of the Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force in Akure, the state capital, the Attorney General and Chairman of the task force, Dr Kayode Ajulo, said the government would strictly enforce the Ondo State Properties Protection and Its Documentation Law, 2024.
Ajulo stated that the grace period given to offenders expired in 2025, stressing that 2026 would be a decisive year for tackling land grabbing in all 18 local government areas. He warned that illegal land sales, multiple sales by land-owning families, intimidation of lawful owners, and forceful land acquisition would no longer be tolerated.
According to him, individuals identified as key actors in land grabbing have been documented, and anyone found guilty would be arrested and prosecuted without compromise.
He commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for strengthening property rights through the new law, which criminalises land grabbing and related offences.
The warning comes amid rising complaints from farmers and residents over persistent harassment by suspected land grabbers in parts of the state.
