Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre following her arraignment over alleged cyber-related offences, including defamation.
Okorie was reportedly arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) before being transferred to Abuja for further action.
Confirming the development, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the actress was taken into custody by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.
According to reports, Okorie was arraigned before a court on Wednesday, after which she was ordered to be remanded pending further proceedings. Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley also confirmed that the actress was charged to court and subsequently remanded.
Details of the alleged offence were not fully disclosed at the time of filing this report, but the case is believed to be linked to accusations of online defamation and related cyber offences.
