A community association in Kogi State has confirmed the release of the final batch of worshippers abducted from the First ECWA Church, Aiyetoro Kiri, bringing an end to weeks of anguish and negotiations.
The Aiyetoro Kiri Bunu Development Association (AKBDA) announced that the church members, kidnapped on December 14, 2025, were freed after sustained negotiations and significant financial sacrifices by the community, families, and sympathisers.
According to the association, seven abductees were released on January 1, 2026.
This was followed by the release of three others on January 12, and fourteen more the next day. The final six were released recently, completing the process.
AKBDA described the outcome as a testament to perseverance, unity, and faith, noting that the journey required “enormous resources” and emotional strength.
The association expressed gratitude to God, affected families, community members, supporters, and media organisations for their support and advocacy throughout the ordeal.
The release has brought relief and renewed hope to Aiyetoro Kiri, despite the heavy financial cost borne by the community.
