Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih (OON), describing him as one of the finest Islamic scholars in Ilorin’s history.
The respected cleric died on Monday in Abuja at the age of 75 after a brief illness.
In a condolence message personally signed by the governor, AbdulRazaq said the passing of the Chief Imam was a painful loss to the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the entire Muslim Ummah, noting that his death occurred in accordance with the will of Allah.
He praised the late Imam for his deep scholarship, humility, patience, and exemplary character, adding that his teachings positively shaped generations of Muslims.
According to the governor, Sheikh Solih served with distinction as the spiritual leader of Ilorin, guiding the faithful with wisdom, moral clarity, and a strong commitment to peace, tolerance, and unity.
The governor extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate, the Kwara State Council of Ulama, and the family of the deceased.
He also prayed that Allah forgives the late cleric’s shortcomings, accepts his lifelong service as acts of worship, and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih was widely regarded as a leading voice of Islamic scholarship and moral guidance in Kwara State until his death.
