The Oyo State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for kidnappers responsible for the abduction of an Indian expatriate and the killing of a police officer in Ogunmakin community, Oluyole Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Alayande, disclosed this on Monday during a radio programme in Ibadan.
He said the command had begun bush-combing operations and was reviewing its security architecture following a recent surge in criminal activities across the state.
The incident occurred on Saturday when gunmen attacked the area, killing a police officer and abducting the expatriate.
The attack followed a similar security breach earlier this month, when suspected bandits invaded the National Park Service in Oriire Local Government Area, killing five officers.
Alayande said the police had deployed additional personnel to affected areas and were working closely with the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands to strengthen security along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway and border communities.
He assured residents that the kidnappers would be tracked down, stressing that the command remained committed to restoring safety across all 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
