APC Stalwart Warns Against Celebrating Atiku’s Son’s Defection

A former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has cautioned party members against celebrating the defection of Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

In a statement shared on his X handle, Garba described the move as troubling, raising concerns about family loyalty and moral values.

He warned that personal ambition should not override fundamental principles, adding that loyalty within families often reflects broader character traits.

Abba Abubakar announced his defection on Thursday and pledged to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Reacting, Atiku Abubakar said his son’s decision was a personal choice, stressing that political differences within families are normal in a democracy and that he does not interfere with the conscience of his children or any Nigerian.
