The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of all public parks managed by the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) to allow for routine maintenance and upgrade works.
In a statement issued on January 9, LASPARK said the parks will be closed from January 12 to January 31, 2026, following increased usage during the recent festive season.
Affected parks include Ndubisi Kanu Park, Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park, Alausa, Dr. Finnih Abayomi Park, Oregun, and all other LASPARK-managed recreational spaces across the state.
According to the agency, the temporary shutdown is necessary to carry out landscaping, facility repairs, and general upgrades to ensure the parks remain safe, clean, and enjoyable for residents and visitors.LASPARK added that the exercise aligns with its commitment to promoting relaxation, wellness, and environmental sustainability through well-maintained green spaces. The parks are expected to reopen to the public at the end of the maintenance period.
