The Student Union Government of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna) has issued a strong warning to students following reports of individuals allegedly linked to a network known as NeoLife invading the campus to lure unsuspecting students with supposed “quick-money opportunities”.
In a public notice released on Tuesday, the SUG expressed concern over the rising presence of the group both within and around the university environment, noting that the individuals behind the operation have no affiliation with the institution.
According to the statement, the suspected marketers approach mainly new students, offering enticing promises of rapid financial gains and business ventures. The union described these offers as misleading and potentially harmful.
“We strongly advise all students to avoid any interaction with them,” the press release stated. “Their activities have been linked to scams, distraction from academics, and a significant drop in students’ performance in previous sessions.”
The SUG urged students to take precautionary steps, including avoiding meetings or presentations by the group, walking away immediately when approached, and reporting any encounter to the Welfare Director or executive officials using official contact lines to be released soon.
The Union emphasized that FUT Minna already provides structured, approved and beneficial platforms for entrepreneurship development and skill acquisition.
“Your safety and academic excellence remain our top priority,” the notice added. “Stay alert, stay informed and stay focused.”
Students are encouraged to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to schemes that may threaten their academic journey.
