The Kano State Government has called for the immediate arrest and investigation of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over alleged inciting comments and an alleged attempt to establish an illegal militia group in the state.
The demand followed the 34th State Executive Council meeting, where Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, accused Ganduje of making inflammatory statements and linking him to recent insecurity in parts of Kano.
Ganduje, through his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, dismissed the allegations as “reckless, baseless, and a reflection of incompetence,” accusing Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration of neglecting its primary duty of safeguarding citizens.
Waiya insisted that public figures must avoid remarks capable of provoking unrest, stressing that the alleged plan to recruit 12,000 youths under a proposed religious police outfit, Khairul Nas, poses a serious security threat.
He assured residents of the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order across Kano State.
