President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme. The appointment, which takes immediate effect, also positions Governor Uzodimma as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation.
According to a State House statement, the Governor, who doubles as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, will spearhead a nationwide campaign to promote and deepen understanding of the Tinubu administration’s policies, reforms and achievements. Working closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other governors, Uzodimma is expected to foster unity, coordination and inclusiveness across all levels of the party.
As Renewed Hope Ambassador, he will lead strategic engagements and mobilise Nigerians in support of ongoing reforms under the administration, while ensuring effective collaboration between the APC-led states and the federal government. APC governors will also serve as Ambassadors of Hope in their respective states to strengthen the reach and impact of the initiative.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in the governor’s capacity to drive public awareness and strengthen national support for the Renewed Hope Agenda. He charged Uzodimma and other party leaders to robustly disseminate the administration’s milestones since assuming office in 2023.
The statement highlighted several indicators of economic recovery, noting that inflation has eased for the seventh consecutive month to 16.05 percent as of October. It added that the exchange rate has stabilised, while Nigeria’s foreign reserves have risen to over $46 billion, a significant increase from the $32 billion recorded in 2023, alongside a previously inherited net reserve of $4 billion.
Investor confidence is reportedly rebounding, with increases in both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and portfolio inflows, particularly in the oil and gas sector. The Nigerian stock market, the presidency says, is experiencing unprecedented growth, while diversification efforts are advancing through solid minerals and other critical sectors.
The statement also pointed to improvements in public services, including the government’s liberalised student loan programme, which already has over 700,000 beneficiaries, and the reduced waiting period for Nigerian passports to under one week.
With the new appointment, Governor Uzodimma is expected to lead an intensified nationwide engagement as the administration prepares for the official launch of the Ward Development Programme.
