Taraba State’s political landscape is set for a major shift as Governor Agbu Kefas, PhD, prepares to formally defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
An official invitation circulating across the state indicates that the governor will be officially received into the ruling party at a grand ceremony scheduled to hold at Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo, by 1pm.
The invitation, bearing the Taraba State Government crest, announces that Governor Kefas “heartily invites” stakeholders, party leaders, and supporters to witness his reception into the APC.
Governor Kefas, who was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is expected to make a public declaration during the event, marking one of the biggest political realignments in the North-East ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political observers say the governor’s move could significantly alter the political balance in Taraba State, which has long been a PDP stronghold. The APC, on its part, is expected to receive the governor with a high-powered delegation as it consolidates its influence across the region.
Preparations are already underway at Jolly Nyame Stadium as party loyalists, supporters, and political associates gear up for the landmark decamping ceremony.
