A woman identified as Esther has reportedly died after visiting her boyfriend in the Dei-Dei area of Abuja, sparking an investigation by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
According to a resident, Esther left her home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, telling her family she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei. She never returned.
Later that night, her elder brother received a phone call from a man who identified himself as Esther’s boyfriend, informing him that she had died.
The caller claimed he bought her food at his residence, after which she began vomiting.
He said he rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where she died while receiving treatment.
Since making the call, the boyfriend has reportedly switched off his phone and did not provide his name or address. Esther’s phone has also remained unreachable.
Confirming the incident, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said the police are aware of the case and investigations are ongoing.
