Wamakko Rallies Sokoto APC Behind Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing what he described as significant benefits Sokoto State has gained under the current administration.

Speaking at the Government House in Sokoto during the flag-off of mobilisation funds for the reconstruction of the Sokoto Central Market, Wamakko praised President Tinubu for ensuring the prompt release of statutory allocations to states, which he said has enabled governors to deliver development projects.

He also noted that Sokoto has received an unprecedented number of federal appointments under Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a demonstration of fairness, inclusiveness, and national unity.

Widely regarded as the political leader of the APC in Sokoto, Wamakko is seen as a key figure in mobilising support for Tinubu in the North-West, a strategically important region ahead of future elections.

The senator further commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for ongoing infrastructure and economic renewal projects across the state, pledging continued support to sustain development efforts.

The event also marked progress in the rebuilding of the Sokoto Central Market, which was severely damaged by fire in 2021. Government officials, party leaders, traditional rulers, and traders expressed optimism that the reconstruction would restore livelihoods and boost commercial activity in the state.
