Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP), have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and arrested three alleged informants during a counter-kidnapping operation in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, Operation PEACE SHIELD, was launched on 15 December 2025 following credible intelligence about an attempted abduction in Dong community. On arrival, troops engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their initial target and flee.
While escaping, the suspects reportedly abducted four persons in a neighbouring community. Troops pursued the criminals and engaged them in a firefight, during which one kidnapper was neutralised.
Items recovered included one AK-47 rifle, a magazine and four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Three suspected informants linked to the criminal network were also arrested.
According to security forces, “efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend other members of the gang.
”The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property in Plateau State, assuring residents of continued vigilance to sustain peace and security.
