Tinubu Tasks Shettima to Lead Nationwide Ranching Rollout, Orders Grazing Reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead nationwide sensitization and coordination for Nigeria’s new ranching and grazing reforms, marking a major step toward ending herder-farmer conflicts.

Speaking at the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the President ordered immediate mobilisation for the implementation of ranching infrastructure, prioritising conflict-prone communities.

“The Minister of Livestock should begin rehabilitating grazing areas for ranching.

We must eliminate this area of conflict and make livestock reform economically viable,” Tinubu said.

He instructed Shettima, who chairs the National Economic Council, to engage governors and emphasise that land administration rests with the states.

The President added that restoring peace in rural communities and modernising livestock management is crucial to national security and food stability.
