President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Oyebamiji clinched the party’s ticket during the APC primary election held on Saturday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, where delegates unanimously affirmed his candidature.
In a statement issued on Saturday, President Tinubu commended the Osun APC for the unity, reconciliation, and discipline that characterized the primary election process, describing the exercise as a reflection of the party’s internal cohesion.
The President also praised other aspirants who stepped down in favour of Oyebamiji, noting that their actions demonstrated party loyalty and a shared commitment to the progressive ideals of the APC.
Urging the candidate to consolidate the party ahead of the polls, Tinubu advised Oyebamiji to be magnanimous in victory by embracing all party leaders and former aspirants to ensure inclusivity and cohesion as the party moves forward.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” the President said, calling on APC members in the state to remain united and focused.
The primary election was chaired by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who supervised the affirmation process that produced Oyebamiji as the party’s flagbearer.
