The wife of the Taraba State Governor, Mrs. Agyin Kefas, on Wednesday met with 17-year-old Miss Iwasen Terhemba, who was allegedly mutilated by one Ramatu Abbas in Donga Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was reported to have occurred on January 21, 2026, and has since drawn public concern and calls for justice and support for the victim.
During the meeting, the First Lady expressed deep sympathy with Miss Terhemba and reassured her of the state government’s commitment to her welfare, recovery, and future.
Mrs. Kefas disclosed that Governor Agbu Kefas has approved the enrolment of Miss Iwasen Terhemba into the Taraba State Scholarship Scheme, alongside other support benefits aimed at safeguarding her education, wellbeing, and long-term future.
According to her, the intervention reflects the administration’s resolve to protect vulnerable citizens, particularly young girls, and to ensure that traumatic experiences do not rob them of opportunities to achieve their dreams.
She further assured that the state government would continue to follow up on the matter and ensure that all necessary support systems are put in place, while relevant authorities handle the case in line with the law.
The development has been widely welcomed by residents and child rights advocates, who described the gesture as a strong statement of compassion and responsive governance.
