The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has expressed deep sorrow over a fatal accident at Ilubirin, inward Simpson on Lagos Island, which claimed the lives of a police officer and a scavenger.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq, the incident occurred when the driver of a speeding Toyota Camry lost control and rammed into a police officer riding on a motorcycle, as well as a nearby scavenger. Both victims died on the spot.
LASTMA described the incident as avoidable and urged motorists to obey speed limits to prevent further tragedies on Lagos roads.
