Some members of the Obidient Movement in Edo State have officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following reports of their leader, Peter Obi, aligning with the party.
Welcoming the new members on Monday, ADC National Leader and former APC chairman, Chief John Oyegun, described the move as a strong signal that Nigerians—especially youths—are ready for leadership change.
He said the calibre of people joining the ADC showed that a “new Nigeria” was achievable.
The Edo State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Asemota Igiogbe, said the ADC was best positioned to challenge the ruling APC in Edo and nationally.
He expressed confidence that Peter Obi would emerge as the party’s presidential candidate and eventually become president.
ADC Edo State Chairman, Kenneth Odion, and the party’s women leader, Faith Ebhogabhe, also hailed the defection, describing the ADC as a rescue platform determined to mobilise voters and change Nigeria’s political direction ahead of future elections.
