The Labour Party (LP), under the leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman, has firmly declared that the party is “not for sale,” issuing a strong warning to Barrister Julius Abure and his associates over claims to the position of national chairman.
In a statement released in Abuja and signed by the Interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwochocha, the Usman-led interim leadership accused Abure of impersonation, insisting that both the Supreme Court judgment of April 4, 2025, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have removed him from office.
The party called on the Prosecutor-General of the Federation to fast-track Abure’s prosecution over alleged impersonation and other offences. It also accused him and his supporters of abusing court processes by filing more than 20 cases against INEC and the Labour Party leadership across various courts.
According to the statement, INEC was right to block the upload of Labour Party candidates for the forthcoming FCT council elections, citing existing court judgments and allegations that Abure unlawfully collected money from aspirants under false promises.
Describing Abure’s actions as “delusional” and politically damaging, the interim leadership reaffirmed that Labour Party remains united and committed to democratic ideals under the leadership of Dr. Alex Otti (National Leader), Senator Nenadi Usman (National Chairman), and Senator Darlington Nwochocha (National Secretary).
The party urged members, especially youths, women, and aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, to remain calm and steadfast, stressing that the future of a “new Nigeria” depends on collective resolve and discipline.
