The Kano State Hisbah Board has intercepted a vehicle transporting assorted alcoholic drinks allegedly sent from Lagos to Kano.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Board’s Deputy Commander General, Mujahideen Aminuddeen, said the seizure followed credible intelligence received on Monday. Operatives of the Fagge patrol command swiftly stopped the vehicle and confiscated about 13 packs of alcoholic beverages.
According to Aminuddeen, investigations revealed that the consignment was sent by a woman based in Lagos. The driver has been arrested to aid investigations, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the sender.
He urged residents to continue reporting activities that violate social norms and Islamic law, stressing that public cooperation is vital to the success of Hisbah operations.
The interception comes days after the Kano State Road Traffic Agency handed over three truckloads of assorted beer, worth millions of naira, to the Hisbah Board after a separate operation.
