The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking with the arrest of a notorious drug kingpin and several other suspects across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, said the arrests followed coordinated, intelligence-led operations conducted in multiple local government areas, including Dutse, Guri, Gumel, Kazaure, Ringim, and M/Madori, among others.
During the raids, police operatives arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Mutari Shu’aibu of Dutse LGA, alongside other alleged drug dealers. The suspects were found in possession of 4,658 wraps and quantities of illicit substances suspected to be hard drugs, allegedly meant for distribution within local communities.
All recovered exhibits have been documented as evidence, while the suspects have been arraigned in court after discreet investigations.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to eliminate drug trafficking and related crimes that threaten public safety and the future of young people in Jigawa State.
The police also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information, assuring the public of their commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and drug-free Jigawa.
