The Federal Government has commenced the recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), following presidential approval aimed at strengthening community policing and boosting the nation’s internal security.
The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, announced on Monday that the recruitment portal has officially opened for applications from qualified Nigerians.
According to the PSC, the massive recruitment drive aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to expand the manpower base of the police and enhance nationwide security operations.
Qualifications and Requirements application for the General Duty Cadre must possess: GCE O’Level, SSCE, or NECO with a minimum of 5 credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
Applicants for the Specialist Cadre must have:A minimum of 4 credits, including English and Mathematics, plus At least three years of relevant experience and the appropriate Trade Test certificates. Eligibility Criteria candidates must:
Be Nigerian citizens by birth
Be between 18–25 years (General Duty) or 18–28 years (Specialists)
Be medically, physically and psychologically fit
Meet height requirements (1.67m for males, 1.64m for females for General Duty)
Fulfil all conditions listed on the recruitment portal

The PSC assured Nigerians that the recruitment exercise will be transparent, merit-based, and strictly in line with established guidelines, stressing that no form of favoritism, bribery or influence will be entertained.
The recruitment marks one of the largest single police intakes in Nigeria’s history and is expected to significantly improve the country’s policing capacity.
