A former Deputy Governor of Osun State and governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, has pledged comprehensive development across key sectors if elected governor, as he faulted the current administration for neglecting education and healthcare.
Speaking after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, Alabi accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of failing to prioritise essential public services, describing the situation as a “glaring lack of commitment to the welfare of Osun citizens.”
According to him, while the present administration is focused on roads and bridge construction, foundational sectors such as education and health have suffered severe neglect.
“Performance is relative, and the facts on the ground are clear,” he stated. “My administration employed 2,500 teachers, yet that only scratched the surface of a 7,500-teacher deficit. For three years now, not a single teacher has been employed under the current government. Thousands of children are being denied quality education.”
Alabi also raised concerns over the deteriorating state of healthcare in the state, stressing that the continued neglect of the sector puts vulnerable citizens at risk and hinders long-term development.
He vowed that, if elected, he would give equal priority to infrastructure, education, healthcare and social welfare, ensuring balanced development across Osun State.
“We cannot claim progress when our people are deprived of essential services. My commitment is to an Osun where every citizen feels the impact of governance,” Alabi said.
