AU Executive Council to Meet in Addis Ababa February 11–12, 2026

The African Union (AU) has announced that its 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council will hold in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from February 11 to 12, 2026.

According to a statement released on the AU’s official website, the meeting will take place at the Mandela Conference Hall, AU Headquarters.

The Executive Council is a key policy organ of the Union, made up of Foreign Affairs Ministers or designated ministers from member states.

The Council is responsible for coordinating policies of common interest across Africa and preparing matters for consideration by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government, in line with the AU’s long-term development plan, Agenda 2063.

Key issues on the agenda include:
Review of the 51st Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC)
Deliberations on AU participation in the G20
Elections and appointments into AU organs and institutions
Review of the Skills Audit and Competency Assessment (SACA) process
Consideration of draft legal instruments and governance reforms
The AU has also invited journalists to cover the opening and closing ceremonies, assuring that further details on media access and livestream arrangements will be communicated ahead of the event.

The February session is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the AU’s policy direction and institutional reforms for the coming years.
