Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has dismissed the possibility of an opposition victory in the 2027 general election, insisting that neither Atiku Abubakar nor Peter Obi, whether separately or on a joint ticket, can defeat President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on TheMicon Podcast in a video shared on Instagram, Musawa described Atiku as a “formidable opponent” but maintained that he lacks the strength to unseat the ruling party.
“As much as I admire him and see him as a patriot, I don’t think Vice President Atiku Abubakar is a match in 2027,” she said.
Musawa added that even a combined Atiku–Obi ticket would fail, arguing that such an alliance would alienate Obi’s loyal supporters, popularly known as Obidients, many of whom oppose the idea of Obi serving as a vice-presidential candidate.
She further claimed that if Obi were presented as the presidential candidate instead, the opposition’s chances would be even slimmer.
“If Peter Obi is on the ticket as presidential candidate, that is the fastest way the opposition will lose the election,” she stated.
The comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with supporters and critics debating the future of opposition alliances ahead of the 2027 polls.
